Default New Turkey Hunter

Hi, I am a new turkey hunter, this was my first spring. Up until this year it was all deer hunting, but one gobble changed my mind on turkey hunting! I go close to some birds this spring, but didn' t harvest. I know spring and fall hunting are very different. I was hoping some of you guys could help me with some fall hunting strategies that could land me a bird this fall. Thanks alot.

First of all welcome , it nice to see ya drop by,,,

Fall hunting is a little different then spring hunting. In the fall you will be hunting family flocks , Hens and the springs Poults Jaksters and Jenniski' s most of the time.
What you want to do is use th " Break Them Up" method and call them back in. Most times a good break can be a roosted flock. Find the roost site and in the morning as the birds are in the trees, run in on them and scatter the flock. Too setup sit close to the breakup point and use fall calls like the Assembly, Kee-Kee, and Kee-Kee-Run. Most times just call the same as you hear the birds calling back to you.

Gobblers can be hunted in the same fashion but the calling will be more of Gobbler yelps and clucks. Hunting gobblers can take some time as they tend to be slower at regrouping.

I hope this puts a little insight on the Fall hunting and I' m sure the others can add more too this excited hunting way...BT
