Default Calls that stood out ......

Did you have a call of some sort that seem to stand out for you this past spring ?

I used the QB Mini Boat Paddle this spring and it seemed to work great, I had a number of toms off in a distance that anwsered this call, and I got to work the birds right to the end of the barrel. I' ve found a place to add a pocket to the vest so this call will travel easyly everytime I head out to the turkey woods...BT

Looking back on this past spring...I really wonder what my calling would have really sounded like if I hadn' t been shaking so badly...I used a glass call with a Rhodes (I think) cocabola wood striker....

I know that there is one tom out there that didn' t like my Preston Pittman Black Diamond (which I use to KILL them with)....I yelped to him to get him to stick his head up....he didn' t (lucky for him)....he just walked right out of range in full strut while his four skinny jake buddies grouped around to " gawk" at my hen decoy!

I hope the big boy will be out there NEXT spring![>:]

I had a lot of success with my HS Strut Lil Duece this spring. Being a first time hunter and caller, this call brought in two nice birds for me to shoot. I also had a lot of responses from a distance when I used this call. I also bought and used a box call that was made in central Georgia by KC Custom Calls. It also worked well and brought many responses.

I called 4 toms with a Primos True Double II mouth diaphragm, and 2 toms with my Quaker Boy Grand Old Master Box call. I ran a lot of slate with no success, and ran some Primos Lil' Heartbreaker box call also with no success, though I still think the Heartbreaker is the sweetest sounding box call ever. After the seasons closed, I discovered a Knight and Hale diaphragm that is incredible. It has a name, but I don' t know what the name is. It has a number on it, #143. I plan to use that a lot next spring. I get a " third" note on it when I' m yelping.

i bought a cody envy glass last year at walmart after season for like 9 bux...played with it all off season and really didnt like it...sometimes it sounded sweet other times i was ready to throw it at a wall and see what the insides looked like.....i finally made a stricker it liked...i called my bird in with it and my box call....and the first day i had them going nuts with my cody....i still dont like it much...im going to build me a real glass call.....i love the sound of glass but i cant have the chance of a terrible sounding series coming out when that bird is coming...it did surprise me how much the birds seemed to respond to the call....not a bad glass call in my book.....just not great.....maybe it needs tuned a bit more....

My new American Friction Rock Bottom Glass over Slate dug many Graves this Spring. I could not have been any more pleased with the results.
Only thing that might make it better is if Adrian sent me a passle of them fancy strikers he makes for me to test drive before next Spring ????
Let me know if you need a address there BUD

I' d have to go with two, the Power crystal, with a QB plastic squared tip striker, purred like crazy and got the Tom' s nuts no matter how I used it. ASnd my trusty ole' Ten sider box, lots of options with that one, but it has sealed the deal on my first two birds this year' s and last' s. So that' s one call I' ll never part with

Well for a new call the BossTom #100 slate in a walnut pot really hit the spot. Great call, soft to loud, very nice soft talk, and the darn thing is pretty too

Old calls I still have to go with the Knight & Hale Ol' Yeller.

I used these two calls 98% of the time this season and it payed off. Also really like that Adrian Hare striker I got, worked great on all my favorites.
