..JESUS IS COMING BACK BE READY...
ToToe , The season here has been strange aswell , we have had more Rain and Cold aswell through the season. This year the birds are very late laying Clutches and getting on the nest. 90% of all the Toms I worked this season still had there fair share of Hens still with them at the end of the hunting season. I noticed the last week more times hens walking off in strange places , so I would think they where starting to Nest. Hopefully the weather turns a little drier in June/July...BT
I talked to a biologist here in Washington State about this very subject. He said because a poult' s primary diet is insects (grasshoppers, etc) they need the hot, dry weather which insects thrive in. Damp weather is definitly not good.
The weather here in NY hasn' t been much better either!! Cold, damp, overcast, and RAIN!!!! For crying out loud, it' s June 6th already!!! Geeezeeeeeeeee!!!!
The weather channel stated that the jet stream is the culprit, it took a southernly route and that' s what' s causing all the crappy weather here in the east!! Hopefully it will change soon!! Fall' s almost here!! LOL!!!
TOT,we' re in thye same predicament here out west,at least in my stretch of the woods!May rang in with unseasonably wet weather when alot of the chicks normally are hatching out!I' ve seen way to many lone hens as of late,I just hope many of the hens were still in the process of incubating during that bad weather, but I have not seen any youngins as of yet!!Alot of our quail are just now nesting, and the fish are still on beds! This should of been finished a month ago!So we' ll see!!

Also to go off what Kitsap said, in WA. we have cold wet springs the hen' s have adapted to sometimes forget their first clutch altogether. They may not even sit on it at all, because they know they won' t make, then start a 2nd clutch later in the spring when it dries out more and it seems to be working they think?
