Ric,kinda of a difficult question that I really believe centers around roostsites, food and water! In the spring when our vegetation is high and in bloom, and the water table is farely high the birds dont range very far in fact alot of flocks unless tampered with will stay close to one field. The rest of the year they may travel several miles in search of food and watering sites! The birds around these parts seem to have different areas they frequent with the change of seasons and quality food, watering, areas seem to dictate those movements!

I think B.G 2 has it right , they will travel serveral miles in search of a good habitat. A couple of years ago they released some birds w/ radio transmitters on them up here in WA. State. The day after the release they picked up their signal some thirty miles away and the following day they picked them up back @ the release site? Plus my spot I' d scouted all winter up til a week before season, the birds were no where to be found and I cover a good 3 mile area?
