Vandals hinder relocation efforts on Big Island HI

This morning (Thur, May 29) someone destroyed a live trap the NWTF Volcanoes Chapter had set up to capture nuisance turkeys. they broke the frame and cut the netting. Now we have to construct a new trap and set it up in a different location. Antis? Animal rights? Don' t know. Criminals - vandals - YES!
Hopefully we can capture these birds and transfer them back into the wild without interference. Maybe we will get lucky and catch the criminals. Anybody interested in hunting down these vandals? No tags required. No season limit.

Joe, sorry to read something of this nature. It is hard to exsplain to locals about the birds in there area and at times these criminals don' t understand that do to trapping the Wild Turkey becomes populated faster and takes Hunting Presure off of ones area. Yes , it hurts to see some of your huntable birds be taken away, but then again its nice to see the hunters that crowed the area ease off aswell. Something to think about....BT
