Default Wisconsin Fall Turkey Hunt Extended

In Wisconsin, the proposal to add an extended fall turkey hunting season for zones one through five has been approved.
Fall 2009 Wild Turkey Season Dates

The 2009 Fall turkey hunting season will run from September 12 - November 19. The proposal to add an extended fall season for Zones 1-5 has been approved. The 2009 Fall turkey EXTENDED hunting season for Zones 1-5 ONLY will run from November 30 - December 31.

To hunt wild turkeys in Wisconsin a valid permit (carcass tag), fall turkey license, and Turkey Stamp are required. Permits are distributed using a preference drawing. To receive a permit to hunt wild turkeys in Wisconsin, you must apply by application. The application deadline for the fall 2009 season is August 1, 2009. Applications cost $3 and are available at any DNR Service Center, Licensing Agent, or by applying online. Successful applicants will be notified via mail by late-August and must then obtain their permit from any DNR Service Center or Licensing Agent.

Reminder: Hunters are reminded that the number of turkey hunting zones has been reduced to seven large zones instead of the previous 46 zones structure. Please refer to the 2009 Fall Turkey Hunting Regulations and/or zone map links on the Wild Turkey website for the 7-Zone Consolidation Map.

If permits remain after the drawing is complete, leftover permits will go on sale beginning Saturday, August 29th at 12 PM (noon). Permits will be available on-line at dnr.wi.gov, at any licensed sales vendor or by calling 1-877-WILICENSE (1-877-945-4236). Leftover permits will be issued on a one per-day basis.

Please note: Effective October 1, 2007, for the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Fall turkey hunting seasons only, hunters with a valid turkey permit and license may use dogs to hunt wild turkey IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES ONLY: Crawford, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland, Sauk, Vernon, and Wood Counties.
