Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default pic of my homemad custom double glass call

Gang,

I have been wanting to try making my own calls for novelty and after some experimentation, they have come out quite nice. This particluar call is a double glass call. As my 3 yr old daughter says... they sound " sweet" . let' s hope the NY birds feel the same.

Nice call, did you make the pot yourself or did you buy a premade pot? What kind of wood is it? Looks to me like you had some stickers made to place underneath, am I correct. Sweet call, Hop it works for you on your opener. I didn' t get a chance to you my handmade strikers, for one it was raining all morning during the PA opener saturday and I managed to get my bird at 6:30am with a mouth call. Didn' t even get to use them to call my buddies bird in. But we are going to take his stepson out this weekend and I am going to call while he video tapes his stepson. So I hope to get to try them on saturday.

Nice job bhw, I' m impressed!
I would love to try and do something like that, but where would a man start?
Where do get get the right kind of wood, glass etc.
I' m not real graceful with things like that but I' m sure I could tear some stuff up and have fun doing it.

the sticker under the glass is from a local graphics shop. the vinyl is " premium" which is said not to alter sound much. I tried a few more tonite and think that the slate under glass gives a smoother tone while my double glass seems more raspy. I also have some 3" plastic pots that sound awesome right off the bat. This is fun!

That' s nice, BHW! I made a double glass in a walnut pot awhile back, it sounds pretty decent to me. I didn' t even take it out hunting with me because I had enough other new calls to try, that I didn' t want to pack it along. I' ll use it someday. It sure was enjoyable putting it all together. It gave me a better appreciation of call building and now I know how they are built. It would make a nice hobby.
