RUNNING AWAY so fast i dont think he was even touching the ground.
My buddy missed his first turkey. got in nice and tight this morning within 70 yards of3 gobblers hammerin every noise we made. i could have farted and he would have gobbled. 3 get hung up on a fence line. then a different one than we was working suddenly gobbles out of no where. and he is already at 70 yards and closing fast. he struts the the edge of the wood line and kinda struts down it a little bit before seein my dekes (3 hens). i tell steven to get ready. now when i say get ready that means put your gun to your shoulder and look down that barrel. his get ready is get ready to pull up and shoot.
he gobbles at my little purr. turns around to walk down a deer trail to come into the opening. Out of the corner of my eye i see him pull up and BOOM. Away the turkey goes. I stepped it off and it was a 40 yard shot.
he might have made it if he had took his time or waited him out a little bit. but he is a duck hunter by nature and is used to pulling up for the shot.
Oh well live and learn!
Sounds like he got a little excited. Oh well, you're right live and learn. I wouldn't know a dang thing if Ihadn't already madea lot ofmistakes and learned from them. Good luck to you guys
