Default 12 yr old son connects first day out

My son tagged his first bird yesterday morning and yesI shed a tear. What an amazing feeling. This bird wore us out first gobble 5.40 am He was in sight of us for probably over an hour came close but positioning wasnt right to get a shot. My nephew has about 40 min on video 7 deer included bobbing heads w/ this turkey really cool but as luck would have it batteries died 5 min b4 the shot. He shoots a 20 ga mossberg that w. fed 5's patterns incredible to 35-40 yds the bird circled about 3 times and went to a cut corn field and tore it up gobbling 30 times in 5 minutes. my nephew jumped up and hiked in about 75 yards and softly yelped and he couldn't stand it no more coming in for a clear 38 yd shot.I told my son when he was in the clear I'd stop him and relax an seal the deal. He knocked this bird flat on its back and it never flinched. I was a Jake but maybe the largest jake any of our party has seen although beard was only 3-1/2 to 4 he weighed and impressive17 lbs I'm still on cloud nine The only bad part of the deal is the morons in New York have proposed new bills to raise hunting ages14-16 for small game 18 for big game 16-18 for jr archery and mentors in field need be 23 yrs old on top of that raised all liceense fees approx 20-25 % Just another reason to leave besides the taxes Love the land hate the Government Our leaders are leading us into a dark never ending abyss

Congrats on your sons bird!
I have a few friends who live in New York and they also say that where they live the Electric usage and cost for that usage is off the charts... Most expensive anywhere in the Country! Go Hillary!

It's awesome isn't it? My dad was more exited than I was whenI got my first. Now after we've been hunting together for about 3 years I was more exited when he killed a four year old that we put a sneak on. Just goes to show ya you can share the glory... easily
