How often should i call??

How often should you call a turkey??? We saw a strutted tom in the field today.. set up out two hen decoys and started calling him... he had 3 hens already with him and after about 10 mins they went back into the woods...

If you sayhe had 3 hens with him, he already had what he waslooking for..That makes it a lot tougher when they're henned up.. You may have better luck trying tolocate a lone tom, or setting yourself upto ambush him before he meets up with the hens, if you know where they are all flying down. Sometimes you get to him before the hens, sometimes you dont. Only thing I can tell you about calling, is DONT CALL TOO MUCH.Most times, less is better than more.. Going after them with a bow is even tougher, Ihave a lot of respect for the people killing turkeys with the bow. Im sure you'll get somebetter info from more experienced turkey hunters, this is just my .02

was any of the hens vocal. did one of them talk more? if so then she will be the boss hen. try imitating her every sound. if she clucks you cluck. she does it 3 time you do it three times. this will drive her nuts and she will come for a look and drag the gobbler with her.
if not your def gonna have to setup before he mets the hens. or wait till they go on the nest.
