homemade calls designs ?
Anyone got any good designs?
Box, slate, tubes, crow, owl, and any different design that can be made from things around the house or woods?

Hey mauser, I'm still around. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
I've just been under the weather for a while so I'm not posting much. (Not making many calls either!) But, I still "lurk" on the forums a lot.
Ummmm... I make box calls, wingbones, and an occassional slate. You can see 'em by visiting my home page. (Click the little button above my reply that looks like a small house.) I have some instructions on making wingbones there. Nothing I make is really "unique" like "PowDuck's" turtle shell friction call there. As far as making box calls, for example, that have some "flavor"... Personally, I think that sorta stuff has to come from you. Do what some of the others have suggested and check out sites like customcalls.com and The Box Call Page for some "generic" plans. Then all the other stuff like carving in designs... and putting wood inlays in the lid of a box call can be accomplished by experimenting. You can always visit custom call maker websites and see how they make the calls. Then you can combine different things from each style into what you like.

RE: homemade calls designs ?
Thank you one and all. I've got some basic designs. But the style is great. I'll keep checking in from time to time. Being ill making calls help pass the time. Hope I can get in the woods in two months.
