early hunts

when i read this board i am always wondering what time of the years does everybody start hunting? i dont start til mid april here in iowa. i see birds and i cant wait to get out and hear them long beards gobble their head off. i want to be you people out there and get my bird. who_else

Our spring season opens Mar 1. Being in the tropics, our turkeys don' t have a well defined breeding/struting season. I think there' s a low level of reproduction all year long in some areas. Rainfall may have the biggest effect on the timing of the peak of breeding time.
