I' m putting a 2.5 scope on my 835 and was wondering if you have the shot pattern centered with the crosshairs on the scope, where do you hold on the bird when shooting. I would say about 1/2 way up the neck. What do you do?
I aim right at the neck/feather junction. This part of the bird can be easier to aim at because it doesn' t move as much, it' s also slightly larger.

RE: Question for scope shooters
I aim at the neck/feather juncture also. Try sighting in at 10 yds. first. You will have a small hole a little bit larger than a golf ball or so at this yardage and you want it to punch through the paper exactly where you aimed. With the tight chokes offered today, there' s not much room for leeway at close yardages so set your scope up to be dead on. Good luck!
I agree with MOTT!! That' s the only way to make sure that your scope is right on!! Blow a hole right at the X, then go back to the 40 yard marker to see how it' s doing at the max distance as well.
When aiming on a bird I break up my aim point at two distances,,0-25 The neck/Feathers as the other aim.
On the Head at 25-40. a shotgun has a Lob problem with a pattern and find that alot of shot will tend to drop at the farther range. That extra few inches of aim point can help...BT
