Default Dangers of Turkey Hunting !

Gobble Gobble to all Turkey Hunters, I know that everyones Season opener is getting close or may have already started, but I wanted to remind everyone new or old to the game, to keep SAFTEY and RESPECT a part of their hunting experience. We tend to forget especially when hunting public land that there are people out there that dont have the same values and respect for this sport as we do and will tend to shoot at anything that moves or sound like a turkey. Keep Saftey in mind while walking thru the woods calling, and even when set up on a bird. Just because your set up on a bird and your truck is parked out on the road for everyone to see, dont think that somebody wont come in on top of you and try and cut you off from the bird. Whether its an honest mistake or not , its how accidents occur. In 15 yrs of turkey hunting I personally have been shot at twice and come out of the situation unscathed , a friend of mine was not quite as lucky thou. He lost one eye, has permanent damage to one arm and one lung collapsed. I' m sure that anyone that has has spent any time in the woods during the spring chasing these magnificent birds has had some type of close encounter like this and can tell you it only take a second for things to get scarey. So get out there , have fun and most of all be Safe !

Default RE: Dangers of Turkey Hunting !

Good post for the start of the season.

I tell everyone to wear flo-orange when you are moving. The only time I don' t have a flo-orange hat and vest on is when I' ve settled down behind my wall blind. I also wave my hat if I see another hunter just so he/she knows I' m there.
