Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Sticky Reeds.....

What do you all do to keep the keep the reeds in your multi-reed calls from sticking together and becoming a big one-reed call? I use toothpicks while they are in storage in the fridge, but that is a real pain in the arse to stick those things in there without punching a hole in that latex. Any other ideas out there?

Find a box of the small plastic coated paper clips. I straighten them out and then bend them to make a shorter paper clip and cut off the extra. While the reeds are still wet, wet the clip and slide it between them. You have to put the call in your mouth and let the clip and reeds get wet again in order to pull them out but that doesn' t take but a minute. This has worked a lot better than toothpicks for me because the round edge of the paper clip doesn' t punch holes. If you use regular paper clips without the plastic coating they will rust.

Good Luck,
Doug

Go to McDonalds the Big GoldenM and get some of the white Coffee stir sticks. The one end is a flat rextangle and slides in between the reeds real nice ! and O , don' t tell Ronald why he started serving 3 Milllion Turkeys Hunters so Quick! ...BT
