Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Single Double or Triple Beard?

Can someone explain to me what constitutes a Double/Triple Beard?

I recently shot a bird which had a 9.25" beard and a 2" beard as well, the beards are split from each other, however it looks as if a piece of the smaller beard was split away from that too (look at pic). Any ruling? Thanks

I could be wrong but that looks like just one beard that has some beard rot or some other problem with it (the base is not seperate)
nice bird though !!!

That looks like one beard with half of it cut off...

I've never seen a double beard like that before in my life. Of course, that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

Multiple beards are easy to see as they have a separate point of attachment on the breast of the bird. That is separate distinct bump coming off the breast skin of the bird.

What is hsown above is a single beard.
To measure that beard according to NWTF - take the longest strand.

Thanks for the input fellas! With the single beard (and beard rot), came out with a score of 62.25. My biggest bird to date. This bird was one in a SUPER pressured area not a mile and half from my house, and im fairly sure he's given plenty of us the skirt many, many times before, but nothing a little loneliness combined with a Boss Tom glass slate with an HS strut acrylic striker couldn't take care of...20 yards. 1 3/16" spurs 9.25" beard and 20lbs on the dot, very few breast feathers left!

Between 4 of us, we took 7 birds this year; 3 long beards and 4 jakes including an opening day double. Hell of a season here in CNY. Lots more birds that we should've had!
