Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default NY Bird Down (story and pics)

Bagged my first ever tom at 5:45 am. Pics to follow, just need to finish cleaning up.

Weight- 21 lbs
Beard- 9"
Spurs- 7/8 & 1"

We'll if there ever was a text book hunt, this one was it.

I wasn't able to roost any toms the night before but I knew they were there. I was at my spot by 5:15 am and when the sun seemed right I began with a few tree yelps, but nothing responded.

I decided with the wind it would be best to do a little walking on a logging trail we have just to see what I could do.

Not 100 yds into my walk I hear Mr. Tom about what I think is 200 yds to my right, so I break off the trail 50 yds and set up.

After a few clucks with the slate I had the tom commited and after 5 min from initial set-up I see the ghost appear not 40 yds in front of me. A few purrs later he's at 25 yds put starting to get a little spooked. Right as I guestimate the yardage at 25 yds I hear a putt, so it's now or never.

BLAM... Tom down at 5:45. My first ever and he sure is a dandy. here's some pics.

Thanks, I forgot to add that this is my third year turkey hunting. They've given me the slip the past two years .
