Default Turkey contest

I was curious to see if the contest influenced your hunt in any way.For me it didn't really have a chance to as I killed the first bird I saw.Luckily he was a very good bird.I can't honestlysay I would have passed on a jake. How about everybody else, has it influenced your hunt????

For me yes it has. I did take the first 2 gobblers that were presented. I did try to kill a bigger Tom and better my score for the contest...

i will never hunt a certain way for any contest...exspecially a for-fun contest....

maybe target a huge groundhog for a local groundhog contest

or pass fox for a yote contest not wanting to blow a good set...

but a for fun online contest? never....

the fun of the online contests are getting to know a group of fellow hunters, swapping stories, cheering eachother on, motivation, inspiration, commrodity, tactics, techniques, secrets, tips etc....

The way my season is going, if the beard is 4" or 14" he's going down. Whatever it is it will taste better than the tag soup I'm currently collecting recipes for. Had 2 birds gobbling the first two days of the RI season but they got quiet after fly down and never came in. Two more times out in RI with not a bird in ear shot. Because of work, only got out to CT once so far, and the owner indicated that that morning was the first morning all week that she didn't hear any birds. I confirmed the silence. That was after 2 days of steady rain so maybe they changed their patterns some. Its not a banner year for me so far, but I'm not ready to eat that tag soup yet...

Nope, I would have shot my turkey regardless. I don't let anything walk.
