NC Bird Down, LKNHUNTRESS' first Turkey

LKNHUNTRESSscored on her first turkeyyesterday morning.She hit the North Carolina Turkey woodsthe morning of 4/26/2008at day break.LKNHUNTRESS was carrying a borrowed scoped Remington 1100 with a Turkey barrel.The morning turned into a calling contest between our group and two other hunters.LKNCHOPPERS spotted a group of birds approaching about 100 yards out and whispered toLKNHUNTRESS to get ready as he filmed the hunt. The birds slowly moved in our direction asLKNHUNTRESS readied the Remington for action.LKNHUNTRESS anticipated a close encounter so she took the safety off while the birds were still 50 yards out. The birds began to approach quickly when they spotted the decoy. TheTurkeys were within 15 yards just seconds later asLKNHUNTRESS picked the best open shot and fired on the forward bird. The 16 pound Jake immediately went down for a dirt nap as his two buddies flew and ran away quickly. This was LKNHUNTRESS' first Turkey and a great accomplishment, everyone was happy forLKNHUNTRESS and very excited about the hunt. The Jake had a 5" beard and a beautiful fan.
