So in the morning we kicked two birds off there roost, this was in general location to where we kicked them off there roost yeaterday. We then headed towards the field, there was three deer in there, great more eye balls to deal with!!!!! We hear a few gobblers far off, so we went to the other side of the field, and about 75 yards into the woods. Rich was using VECTOR'S call, the 4 jakes came in on a string from a far distance, I let them walk, they came within 20 yards. So after they left looking for there girlfriend, Rich said: Joe, lets try the other side of the lake, this area is vast, hell I'm game. So we head over there, and found ourselves overlooking a swamp way down there
, all of sudden we hear a GOBBLER, he is far but there. Rich said, Joe lets kill this bird, I replied with Lets go get him
. So down the mountian we go, this mountian was made for mountain sheep
, here we are in the mud, Rich is all happy
. We adjusted ourselves a few times to close the distance on this bird, everytime Rich hit Vector's call the bird would gobble!!!!!! So here we are about 20 yards off a logging road, small open area on the other side of the road, Rich keeps telling me, Don't you (beeping
move!!!!, my back is huting big time.After 2 hours I see him walking towards the logging road, but he is in some nasty thick stuff, once out in the field, he starts to strut, he is 80 yards away, Rich and I adjust ourselves, Ahhhhhhh!!!! much better
, then we don't see this SOB!!!!! So after 10 minutes, Rich said let me call to him, sure enough 30 yards away in nasty stuff, he gobbles!!!! Then I see him heading towards the field, he is 30 yards away, no shot at all. He makes it to the logging road, and struts, once he walks behind a blow down I shoulderd my Mossberg 835, now he is about to head back into the woods, there is just one small opening at 30 yards, he then "PUTTS" just as Rich said TAKE HIM!!!! I fired thru a very small opening.........KABOOM dead bird!!!!!!! 21 lbs., 9" beard, 7/8" spurs!!!!!!
