Best shells for 12 gauge mossberg 500
I have a 12 gauge mossberg 500 with a 28" barrel and recently just purchased a truglo gobble stopper extreme choke tube. I saw better results compared to the stock full choke when i shot my 3" remington nitro turkey #4 shells. However, Iwas wondering if anyone had any recommendations for more accurate shells so i wouldn't have to spend so much money buying multiple boxes andtrying allkinds of combinations.

Go with #5 heavy shot, a lot more shot, and killing power to about 40 yds. I like to get them into about 5 or 10 yds. so I can hear them drum and spit. Besides if you get caught with your gun on your lap, you get 2 or 3 shots if you need.

I have a Mossberg 500 as well, and just purchased the tru-glo xx turkey choke. I was shooting very accurately with 3" remington Nitro turkey #5, but had better results with the winchester XX Turkey 3".
My Remington Nitro Pheasant #4's can just about put all pellets in a 1 liter pepsi bottle at 40 yrds. I am tempted to use these for turkeys, since I had a good shot pattern and its a eavy enough shot!

I wouldn't suggest using any shotgun. Who needs a shotgun, when you can use a 7mm-08. I would suggest using maybe the 175 grain, but they do say that the 100-125 grain works the best for the best results. Why use a shotgun, when it can only go about 60 to 70 yards at the most, when you can use a 7mm-08, and reach out there and give them a nice kiss with that bullet. And plus if you use the 7mm-08, you don't have to waste your money on calls or decoys, but instead on other things. But yeah i would recommended the 7mm-08 over any shotgun.

i do, but i hunt them with a 7mm-08. I'm not worried about getting the meat, because with all the money I save, (for not having to buy turkey decoys, turkey calls, and ect.) i can just go and buy a nice fresh turkey from the local grocery store. I'm more worried about filling my tags. And i recommend that he should use the 7mm-08. To save money, and plus the bullet goes alot further than any shotgun shell will.
