Default Windy opener in Ky.

Opening day in the bluegrass state was windy 12 to mph winds. Tried 3 differnt set up's and decoys blown over at one. Only saw 3 hens, 2 jakes and a bobcat. Two set up's where in open filed and one on a old logging road. I firgured that the birds would be in more open areas due to wind.
Good Hunting.

Got mine first thing Saturday morning... It wasn't to bad then.

I set up about 7:00 and had a lot of actvity around me. Called four toms in and took this one. They came running to my decoys. I hunt in Bracken County by the way.

RJP,

Interesting - I always do the opposite by looking for draws, hollows, and low-lying fields surrounded by trees - places turkeys can get out of the wind.I always heard that itis hard for a gobbler to strut in the open when it is real windy.

I managed to bag a silent gobbler with hens & Jakes @6"48am Saturday morning. It was surprisengly nice at that time, sun commin up & just a light breeze. But by the time i got home, it had clouded up & become windy & colder! The weather this week looks much better.
