Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

How many birds have you missed and do you know why?
I missed a monster the second day of last years season... I couldn't see em coming, it was windy...
I heard gobblers coming and they saw my decoys, stopped gobbling and came at a dead run... as I sat with my slate in my hands wondering why the gobbling stopped, then I watched the first of three birds step out and look right at me.
He put his head down and pecked and I snapped my gun up but it was caught on my shirt, He caught my movement and spun as I shot... I shot clear over the top of him...
My dad was visiting to hunt Kansas for his first time... I bragged that I was gonna show him how it was done....
I sure did.

I've missed three.

All of them inside 15 yards.

Miss no. 1... bird was moving.. he'd made me... at 12 steps... I knew it was all or nothing... I got the second one.

Miss no. 2... I cleanly killed a yellow pine tree about 4" in diameter.. almost exact same scenario... moving bird... in close.

Miss no. 3... I tried to move on a bird and did not have my face down on the gun and shot right over his head.

This is what I did on a bird at about 7 yds. Proceeded to miss the next 2 shots at him as well, but those were a real scramble at a really spooked bird.

I missed only once, but it was on a fall time hen so I wasn't overly mad. I wanted a bird for a family dinner. Was setup perfect for them to pass by on an afternoon hunt. Whole flock is coming in, and I'm holding out for the toms in the back. My friend is with me filming, and he makes too much excess movement, spooking the front birds, and sending the flock in retreat. One of the hens stopped at 40 yards, I swung on her and missed. I must have rushed the shot, my gun shoots a very good pattern and she was standing dead still. I got over it.

Worst part was, on the walk in i was bragging about how I had never missed a bird.[X(] The 7 before her all dropped stone dead.

I was deer hunting, and had a fall turkey tag, hen walked by at like 15 yards, I just wasn't focused and completly missed, no excuse, just wasn't on the ball.

I have missed a handful of birds, once because I called him across a field a couple hundred yards and I had to watch him slowly come the whole way. By the time he got into gun range I was so shook up I jerked the shot and missed. Last spring I called a nice tom in and everything was going too perfect, so I took the shot for granted and hit him low, luckily he ran towards me kinda and stopped twenty yards away. Nailed him with the second shot.

Missed one at 15 yards one time because of the "failure to pattern my gun" technique kicked in. The pattern blew right past his head and he flew off. MAN i hate that feeling! Anyone thinking to not pattern their gun, ya might wanna think again.

I took a shot at the biggest tom i've ever seen...and missed

2 years ago, I called him in to about 50-55 yards, but he wasn't coming any closer. So I shot, but I missed him
