I saw a pushbutton, egg shaped call in WalMart today. It' s called The Egg, and is made by M.A.D. It' s plastic. Anybody out there tried this call? I bought a wood pushbutton call called Simplicity, made by M.A.D., a few years ago, and it is a good one. The Egg can also be attached to your gun barrel.
I have successfully called in turkeys using a similar call known as the Lonesome Hen put out by Knight & Hale. I work at a retail outlet that sell " The Egg" and pulled one out of the package and gave it a try. I think for a real new turkey hunter who just wants to be able to put out some decent sounding yelps, purrs, and clucks and isn' t skilled with a box call or a diaphragm call it will do the trick. But if you' re a more seasoned hunter, skip it and find a wooden push rod call that puts out a higher, raspier pitch.
