Default Alabama Swamp Gobbler Down

Called in 3 longbeards down in the swamp this morning and culled this one out of the group. Sure was pretty seeing three of them in full strutt in the early morning fog. Incredibly one of these three birds gobbled at a hoot owl at 5:40 this morning when it was still pitch dark. I couldn't believe it but I sure appreciated him tipping his hand that early in the game. It gave me the chance to get set up pretty close. 17 lbs, 1 1/8 inch spurs and a 10 1/2 inch beard. A 3 inch number 6 Heavy-13 dropped him at 20 steps.

Cool! Congrats on a great hunt. Thanks for sharing. Are we gonna see more "culls" later in the season?

LOL! Didn't mean to imply this is a poor or "cull" bird. Some of my friends and I simple use the word "cull" interchangably with the word "kill". And yes I plan to cull/kill a few more this season. Heck they haven't even really gotten lonesome and love starved yet like they do in late season down here. They are usually still pretty henned up at this point in the season. So this is a pretty promising start for me. Hope to get my 5 bird limit this year.
