RE: new to turkey hunting, need gun
The 3 1/2 in chamber is not a bad way to go. You can shoot 3 or 2 3/4' s from it, but if you ever need something bigger, for turkeys, ducks, geese or whatever, you can always shoot 3 1/2' s. It' s not a bad idea to go ahead and get it. For turkeys, I use 3 inch shells. Turkey loads pack some punch no matter what size they are. But some people are firm believers in " it' s better to have too much than not enough." Try the 835 and 870, it seems to be what most people use for their turkey guns. I tend to like the 870 better, the Mossberg makes me feel like I' m holding a fence post. Choose which ones best for you, each of them will work wonders on turkeys and run about the same price I believe. Good luck choosing!
