And another bang, and another bang! This morning was opening day for us. I went to call for an elderly man, Jack, who hasn't killed a turkey in many years, despite great efforts. To make a long story short, I got a wad of birds to come running in and he smoked the first one with a beard. It had a 4" beard. I was pumped for him and glad he got this bird. We did have a big Tom in the buch, but this bird and some others were at less than 20 yards when he shot. Didn't hurt the Tom, started calling and he went right back to full strut. Then we moved about 100 yards to try and get me a bird. After a series of calls, 2 birds came RUNNING in, one with a 6-7 inch beard and the other was right at five, cuz he got shot! About 3 minutes later, my buddy Jason scored on a bird that was hung up and gobbling in between us. It sported an 8 1/2" beard! Not a bad morning to start the season off! Here's som pics, sorry for quality, "phone camera"!

strutnbuck,
Those are nice birds.Am I right in assuming these are osceola's?
If you are ever interested in comming to Missouri to hunt Easterns maybe we could
work out a swap. Our season doesn't start for another 4 weeks. Congrats. How
many are you allowed to harvest? Are you done?
Kevin
onebigelk, They are in fact Osceolas. We can harvest 2 per year, 1 a day. Tommorrow I am taking one of Jasons kids, so hopefully, we'll score another. As for the trade, I will keep that in mind. Right now we only have 860 acres, but there's a chance that we'll be assuming some hunting rights to some more.
