We need help to get a Meriam...

My Cousin and I are wanting to kill a Meriam. I have asked before. I live in Missouri and want to travel as close to MO as I can with this Fuel as High as it is.

We want one like those Picture you guys Post with all the White Feathers...Nice...

Question: Is NE and SD let you buy Tags over the counter? I hate drawings, Not the most Patient Person in the world.

Will you help a couple of OLD Turkey Hunters from Missouri Out?

South Dakota is over the couter in a sense. They give out unimited tags but you have to order them over the internet. Great hunting in the black hills, but it is a 15 hour drive from st. louis

I'm going to New Mexico in April. Over the counter tags are $130 for 2 tags for a non resident. There is a bunch of National Forest land open to the public. I have spoken with a forestry service biologist that lives in Ruidoso, the town where I'm staying, he will help me find birds when I get there if I can't find them myself. He did tell me about a canyon thats about a mile from the condo I'll be in. Hegave me precise directions to a roost area in that canyon. what a great help. This guy gave me his cell # so I can call when I get to town for an update. Talk about getting help finding a Merriam!

Nebraska is over the counter, limit of 3. They have a ton of birds as well! A buddy hunted the Black Hills in SD with success too!

Red Willow WMA has Merriams, Harland County Resevoir has both Merriam, Hybrids, and Rio's. I took 2 Merriams there a few years ago, passed some hybrids/rios. Ton of birds in both places, finding them is no problem. Most Merriams at Harlan County were on the south side of the lake where there are rolling plains. As far as distance from you, map it.

Here are a couple Merriams I killed up around Crawford, Nebraska in the northwest corner of the statewith over the counter tags (hope the pics show, first time trying to post pics)
