ft. Rucker AL. turkey info

Im heading down there for the first time, next month and was wondering what its like there. any info will be appreiciated. Thanks

I've never hunted in Ft. Rucker, but I know that that area around there is loaded with birds. I live about 70 miles from there and I have hunted around Pittsview & Eufaula for years. ALOT of birds down that way.

It's loaded. The last two years I have hunted there for the youth hunt and maybe a couple of times during the season. There are a lot of birds and a lot of hunters. Unfortunately, some of the hunters are unscrupulous and crazy. I had one shoot a bird out from under me. We had already met at the parking area and he was supposed to go to a different area. Basically, he lied, snuck in between us and sat. Boy was I scared when his 12 gauge reported his shot He shot the bird, ran to his truck, and spun out as he left. So, be careful with the other hunters. Early season is great over there. I bet later in the day would be good, too, when most of the other hunters are out of the woods.
