Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Out of State Licencing requirments

I am curious as to how many states out there require mandatory turkey hunting safety courses. Also curious as to which ones recognize out of state licences.

The reason I ask is I have had an issue with Ontario rules surrounding our mandatory turkey saftey course. We have a hunter safety course but to hunt turkeys this is an additional requirement. That is fine but we do NOT recognize any other courses.

I hunt with someone from Ohio. Even though he had hunted over 20 years and Ohio has a safety course he had to drive all the way here to take Ontario's course before he could come hunt with me. Yet I could get an Ohio licence based on my Ontario Licencing.

I would love to hunt more states but also there is opportunties for premium turkey hunting with some of our guide services here in Ontario. I have spoke to a few hunters south of the border who would love to complete thier North American Slam with a bird from Mexico and Canada.

What is your state rules?

The only place Steve there was a slight issue with this in all the places I've been was Kansasand they did recognized the Ontario's course. I'm sure there must be others...

Virginia will recognize your Ontario licence and does not require a hunter saftey course as long as you have ever held a hunting licence anywhere, which you do.
