Well, I did it. I traded the mossy 835 tactical turkey for my new 870 express supermag. I KNOW their are a lot of opinions out there but before you mossberg people get bent out of shape I still have another 835. I have just always regreted betting rid of my only 870. My question now is what next for turkey. The new 870 has a 26" barrel and I will be starting from scratch with the whole turkey set-up. Any suggestions? Also, the gun is matte black all over, anyone know of a good camo dipper?
Thanks.
Prmos Jelly head choke in .660 constriction and Nitro 4X5X7 loads. Have yet to see an 870 not bea turkey killing weapon with this combination.

Ihave never ever had a problem of spookin turkeys!
Now I know it is a bit more moola but ya want two guns in one - I bought a cantleever barrel for mine - can hunt deer and turkey as I scoped it. Want to have a shot gun for ducks = go back to yer 26" barrel.
Want go back to deer or turkey - swap barrels and that puppy is still spot on!

JW is right, there is no need to camo your gun. The matte black will work perfectly fine. I used one for years and had no problems with it.If cost is an issue, you may want to try the undertaker xtra full choke. You can get one for 20 bucks. I used one with my 870 supermag and it patterened well. I now use the Jellyhead because it patternsthe loads I usebetter with my 870 SPS-T thumbhole. Make sure though, if you shoot hevi shot type shells, you get the undertaker that is designed to shoot hevi shot. This includes Win. Xtnd, Fed. flight control, hevi 13's, and Rem. HD's. There are several types of undertakers, all around $20.
Yep, just what I have been reading. Jellyhead and Nitro 4x5x7. Can't go wrong with a proven combination. Thanks, and camo is not a real issue, just like the camo because it seems to deter rust better.

Yeah, Nitros will slam em, but they are so damn expensive. How much are they running these days?
You're paying not only for theshells, but all the research that Nitro Ray has done, such as testing and patterning. For thevast majority, you save money by buying the choke and shells
he recommends, instead of buying and paying for different chokes and shells, trying to get the pattern you need. There is always the gun that won't fit the norm, but in most cases, you get superior results using his recommendations.
