I've read you have to use a choke made for steel shot.

I contacted Kick's, the maker of Gobblin' Thunder choke tubes, about a year ago on the subject of Hevi-Shot and they told me their turkey chokes were made for lead shot only. Whether or not they have a choke today that is made for Hevi-Shot, I don't know. If you call them, I'm sure they can answer your question promptly. I am going to stick with Winchester HV copper plated lead loads because I don't want to spend another $60 on a choke tube just yet.
