you have one of those mornings with multiple gobblers sounding off from different roosts?Do you set-up on the closest one,or maybe the hottest one,or do you try to get in between them to set-up?Or maybe something different, lets hear it

I Just hope I know that patch of woods well enough to figure out which one will have the path of LEAST resistance to me. Also, I try to factor in past tendencies of birds in the area, like nearby pastures to strut and feed in. And last I try to figure the difficulty of ME getting into position. Whether there is a creek to cross and where, a bluff, briar thicket, ect.
Sometimes it works, sometimes ... well its still fun.
The farthest away because if I screw up the bird , I still have 2 more chance before I get back to the truck ...BT
Bob, if it's where i can, I get about half way in between the 2 closest gobblers.
too many times, I've heard those gobblers fly off the roost and head
straight toward each other.
IMO- that's the best place to set up. right in between!
I rarely here over 3 gobblers at a time on our lease.
down in the refuge, is a different story. I've heard at least 15 different turkeys gobblin in there. but, I usually waith till about
11:00-12:00 to hunt them. I've found out the last few years, that's the best time. nobody else in the woods
I believe the terrain is the major factor here. But I would try to set up on the hottest bird. He might be gobbling his head off because he's alone. I have had to many birds that are gobbling but not totally cranked up that hit the ground and leave with hens. The best situation would be hunting with a friend, split off and kill two birds or at least up your odds of one kill.
I normally will set up on the hottest bird or the one that I feel is more apt to come my way. It may be because he sounds the most vocal or that I know I'm in the area that he wants to be in. Also it depends on if there are other hunters nearby that might be hearing the same birds. I then head for the most remote bird hoping that I am the only one going after him off the roost.

BT rofl!!Like Bogobble and Lefty, setting up in between them if possible, is what has always produced the most success for me!I've had to many birds that were hotter than a firecracker leave the roost and go directly to another gobbling bird.Listening to birds gobble back & forth at each other on the roost is an awesome experience!!
