Default Baby Turkeys

By sight is there a way to tell if there are any young males in this picture?

Not sure if I could tell even if I was holding them. Great pic though.

"baby turkeys" thats cute... " Poults" as they are officially known, and there is a way to tell, but you have to squeeze the S*** out of them to tell if they are male or female, similar to chickens. I think by nature, they are born 52/48 % male/female because of the higher mortality rates in males, due to fighting, hunting, and other things... That means out of a 100 poults hatched, 52will be male, 48 will be female... Nice picture though.

below is one I got of some, hard to see, but some of them are jumping/flying out of the ditch...

you can tell the difference between the jakes and jennies at just a few months old...even when they are just itty bitty things, the jakes will try to strut, i've seen it, nothing but wing feathers and in full strut, i know y'all will think i'm full of it, but i'm not, i'll get pics some time this week if i can....here are some i saw the other morning.....

had an awesome morning thurs. morning....3 quail, 4 hogs, over 20 deer, and over 40 turkey....in about an hours time...

Now that may be a good way to tell, but hens or jennies will and can also strut.

Below is a Rio Hen "struting" to aid her grooming procedures...
