I live in Md on the eastern shore. For two days in a row, about 500 yards from my front door, a huge gobbler has been strutting with a hen in a very low soybean field. I glassed them this am and shes does not appear to have any poults. Does anybody know about this? Just curious.

YEPPER SKEPPER..the re-nests will befgin shortly for those that missed round 1...the TOM's don't pass up any interested hen, saw some the other day in full strut walking around in the cut hay fields...
could also be a barren hen. i've read that a small percentage of hens are infertile and won't ever have a nest and may continue to hang with the toms well into late spring.

Hoffman's right about non-breeding hens, but it also might be a renest, or who knows..??.. Some breed later than others...I've seen poults in late October the size of pheasants, so some breeding can take place VERY late... It ain't like they're on a schedule....
