Default the pattern

do u thank it matters if the pattern is big if it hits the turkey
and just a few pellets hit it or a lot. it wouldmake a cleaner kill
but does it matter

Any pellets not hitting the turkey's head are wasted. Many body hits never make it through the feathersor just break the skin. You want a tight enough pattern to put a lot of hits in the head and/or neck.

Most say that 8 rounds of bb in the head and neck area will do. However, I belive that we owe it to the bird and the sport to make a fast and clean harvest. There for I like to use a load that puts 12 or more bb's in the kill zone.

Very good response,pattern in most cases determines the lethal effectiveness of your load/choke combination.A lack of knowledge to this end produces missesand crippled birds.Know your guns pattern and take shots within its effective killing range...
