Default I don't think I'll get a bird this season...

It ends for us on May 31 and I am not seeing birds at my usual spot. I am going to go out tonight and scout again but it is getting very late to get a bird.

I am not optimistic. <sigh>

We will see I guess though.

I'm in the same boat, tagging out was easy last year (two toms) so I was overly optomistic the year, I thought I had these dumb birds figured out but it looks like they may teach me a lesson this year.

Its been a tough year on all of us. Never give up. I killed 2 Missouri birds this year, and no Indiana birds. So I ate my tag here in Indiana. But I never gave up. If it happens it happens. But dont ever give up. I wish I had a couple more days and Id give every minute trying to kill one.

This year I tagged out on a jake opening morning in RI. I figured some years I NEVER get a shot, so I figured since I was hunting CT tooI'd grab what I could just in case on opening morning, so I did. Well, CT was great as far as calling in birds, but not so great as far as me sealing the deal. I took 2 shots out of range, I couldn't believe my eyes watching those birds flyaway. I called 2 birds in behind me, one gobbled behind me inside of 1 yard... I probably could have grabbed him, but something spooked him and I never did get the shot. Oh well, glad I tagged that jake, cuz my season closed on Saturday and I've got 3 CT tags to make some soup with.

I thought i might get skunked, too.

My season ended on 4/12. I shot my '07 bird @ 7:40 PM on 4/11.

Scouting and ya gotta believe! The birds are there - trust me......

But I am like some of you - hunted Georgia and was taught a lesson! Worked birds 3 out of 4 days but my northern tactics did not work all that well.

But I learned and am willing to bet next year if I go back to the same area will be much different - why? I now know the terrain much better. Woodsmanship countstremendouslyto helpgetting in close to take the shot.

I just cannot find any birds. I scouted again tonight but nothing. I am not sure where to go next to try to find them. No answer to my crow calls at all.

Three days left until the season ends. []

I won't. This was my first season so I learned a lot from it. But I am also tired now and don't plan to go out tomorrow morning as there is no place to go with birds that I know of. So I am going to sleep in and let my season coast to a sleepy ending. If between now and Thursday I happen to find some, I'll do my best to get one. But I'm sick of scouting for them and not finding any.
