Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Meriam Turkey Help

Hey guys, I am looking to shoot a meriam for the upcoming spring 08 season. I am interested in info on outfitters that some of you guys have used. I need a meriam to complete my grand slam. Thanks for any help. I am looking at nebraska or the dakota's, but open to any state that has this species of turkey.

I went on a guided Merriam hunt last year in South Dakota. A buddy and I both shot a mature bird but it was tough hunting (could have shot many jakes). The reason I think it was so difficult was that the birds were hunted so dang hard. We were one of the last groups to go thru. We were hunting a Indian reservation in the Badlands. I would not recommend this outfitter.

Get online and do some searching. If you find a promising looking outfitter make sure you get references of past hunters and ask about shooting jakes, some outfiiters will include jakes when they give you thier success rate. not that there is anything wrong with shooting jakes.

Ryans been around a long time, I wouldnt hesitate to book a hunt with him. If you got to have options Gobble N Grunt Outfitters in NE is well known for a perfect success record and a ton of birds. Everyone I know thats been raves at the amount of birds. Some friends of mine hunted with a new fella in NE this year Randy McKillup of Dog Tired Adventures and had a heck of a hunt. From whatI understand he is booked for 08 but it might be worth giving him a hollar as well.
