Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Turkey lodad suggestions

I have a Remington 11-87 special purpose turkey gun in 12 gauge and a Kicks' gobblin thunder choke tube and topped off with a bushnell turkey scope. I am interested in some suggestions as to what shell brand and shot size holds a good, tight pattern out of this combo at distances out to around 45 yards. Anyone using this combo give me some feedback so I don't have to spend a fortune experimenting. I would really appreciate yoor help and suggestions. Thanks..

Default RE: Turkey lodad suggestions

I shoot a rem 870 SPS-T with thumbhole and a Primos Jellyhead choke and found out that the Federal Flight Control 3.5" #5 shot works best for me (so far...). I also tried the Winchester Supremes 3.5" #5 shot and the Federals seemed to patten just a little bit better. A box of 10 Federals will cost you about $10 and I feel confident out to 50 yards with the patterns I am getting. I didn't try patterning any farthur, becuase I don't think I would shoot something that far away. Shot two gobblers in one shot this season at about 40 to 45 yards with this choke / shell combo...
