Default Spot and Stalk Turkeys

How many of you have had luck spotting and stalking turkeys? Where I hunt in Nebraska, I haven't hadmuch luck calling turkeys, but always end up with a bird by spotting them and waiting until they are in a spot I can sneak up on them. I've tried decoys and all types of calls, but can't seem to get them to come in. Anyone else have this problem? I usually don't make it back until the third week of the season.

it can work.if you hear birds and they dont come to your calls or there going away from you try it.i did it opening day.had 3 or 4 toms gobbling but they all seemed to be working away from me.so i headed towards some of the gobbling and when i got close i cut them off,sat down, started calling real soft, and had 3 jakes go 20 yds in front of me (bow in hand) perfect shot.but passed them up.waiting for a mature bird.but when things get slow try it because it can work.good luck

p.s move real slow and call lightly seems to work best for me

It sure can work. I like to do similiar. When I can't get anything going, I usually run and gun. I quietly walk to spots that I've seen birds at before. I walk slowely and queitly peek over a knoll and try to spot a bird. If I see one, I slowely lower mysef back down and belly crawl to a good setup location. Then I try to call the birds in from that location. My last two birds have been done this way. Of course, the hard part is seeing them before they see you. You will get busted more times than they will bust you. Good Luck
