I was able to stalk up close to a group of birds on Sunday at around 1PM. The first bird to come my direction was a hen which came as close as 5 feet from me before walking behind me. She knew something about me wasn't quite right and started putting and purring. Luckily the other 4 toms started to get more excited and headed my way with sounds of the hen. With a few additional yelps from my slate call, they came in on a string, strutting and gobbling. At 20 yards I left one have it.
