After many years of half-heartedeffort, I finally scored on my first spring gobbler with a bow. Over time, I wascarrying the bow more often into the woods and leaving the gun behind. The gob was in full strut facing away when I shot, and hewent only 10 yds. Surprising thing was that I could see that there was just a nubbinof a beard while he struttedjust 15 yds away (bearded birds only in MD). The beard was broken off - only ~1/2 inch remained. The bird was likelya 3 yr old, 1" spurs and weighted 21 3/4 lbs.
