Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Scared off my bird this morning

Happend kinda fast, but now I am at a loss as to what to do.
The tom spotted me and took a walk, when would be a good time to go back and set up again? I decided to get out of there before I ended up spooking it across the county line..
How often will he come back? I want to be in a better position next time.

I would go back this afternoon or even late morning. Get set up in a new spot and try some soft calling. He probably hasn't gone far.

My hunting partner and Ionce walked in on a tom we saw each other about the same time. He was about 30 yds from me. He took off running to the right. We continued another 10yds or so down the path.We set up and within about 45 mins he came in and took him about 40yds. He came to the call quietly. I didn't mind though.

Don't worry too much. He's probably not going anywhere. I bumped one particular tom on my place three different times and he is still there. I bumped him Sunday morning and he wasted no time flying off. He was back in the same spot a couple hours later and I came so close to sealing the deal, but it just didn't quite work out. If the turkey really likes the area he won't be in any hurry to leave.

+1

Two seasons ago I killed a bird that I bumped not once but twice in the span of about 90 minutes. Key is to know your area, and try to think ahead of where the bird is going. In this case I RAN, around to cut the bird off. I set up a lone hen in a gas line and called very softly. He came in totally silent and I busted him at 17 steps. One of the proudest moments of my hunting career, but in hindsight, not all that difficult to do.
