Default freshing up at camp...

this is not the right spot for this post, but i cant find a better one to fit it into and since i will be turkey hunting, i thought i would ask. is there anyway to freshen yourself up? i mean im going for a good few days and would love to wash up somewhat. its not that big of a deal if there isnt, but im bringing my girl so i thought i would ask for her, just to make her more comfortable. I know they have those mini-showers that has a curtain, a bag of water and then a stool lol. but im not sure how wel it would work. this seems like a weird question now that im reading it, but ill throw it out there. if its just too dumb then ignore it lol. thanks

Well if there is a somewhat clear creek, you could always jump in there. But it is probably pretty cold this time of year, so I don't know. I always just let myself stink for 4 days. Those mini-showers are probably better than nothing though.

What I do at deer camp every year is pretty simple. I take along a couple of 5gl pails, that have the spout in the lid, filled with water.(we have new ones at work that we package chemicals in). I just leave them on the truck tailgate with a bar of soap and a couple of towels. Instant wash station that keeps the funk of 4 guys from growing so bad the deer wouldn't come around.

I've used the shower bag with a tarp and small palet and it worked just fine for getting washed up real quick. Most of those shower bags are solar heated. I always bring baby wipes or shower wipes also. I've used the shower bag for years.

turkey T...when you said solar heated, what do you mean. i know solar means sun lol, but does it just mean that it heats up real quick in the sun?

also, how much are they about...Im gonna be with 4 people, and i would think that getting water would be a problem. i mean i could always use a stream lol, but that might make me dirtier than before lol.

thanks for the help guys. I like the idea of the 5gl pail on the tailgate

I have used this method as well for years and it works good.

What is ment by solar heated is that it is a BLACK BAG that holds the water which will heat up in the sun, but up in the norther climates, that is not much heat. I just add a steel pail and heat water over a fire or on a burner and add to the shower bag then have the shower.

If you have the money and space, I think that those shower stalls and water heaters they sell will work verry well.

yes, the shower bags will do but I'm not sure how much water they hold and don't know if you have a water source or take your own. (you probably do tho). Another option is the plastic 5 gal. water containers that are available.Spending 2 or more weeks straight in the middle of the summer out in the field at Ft. Stuart, Ga. brought out the inventer in me,LOL. The large top on thecontainer also has a smaller opening that is threaded and that just so happens to be the same size as most common shower heads so when we went to the field we'd go to the barracks and swipe a couple heads.Propped the container upside down on a fivedeuce and a half or in the crotch of a tree and instant shower. Now a days probablycan get a handheld shower head with hose and shut off valve. There is nothing that makes you feel better in the field thanto feel clean, good luck.
