Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Well I typed this once and something happened so I'll give the short version here.

The boss told me this morning that he wanted me to leave work early and go check out the company lease to find some birds. I obliged and took off about 3:45 this afternoon. I'd never been to the place before so I headed out with my map and shotgun to scout it out.

Ten minutes after going through the gate I found a small food plot enclosed in some tall cottonwoods that I thought looked good. I later found out that the plot is where my boss puts his deer stand. Anyway, I sat down and started puttin' and purrin' about 3 minutes later this guys began working his way down the trail to me. I positioned myself facing where I thought he would come out. At 50 yards two more birds crested the hill top behind him and were on a string right towards me. I didn't have a decoy it was just me in Enigma, the Benelli, and a double reed diaphragm call.

At 20 yards and closing the distance, I squeezed the trigger on my SBE II and it was game over. I was away from the truck for about 30 minutes total.

I'm not sure of his weight, but his bear is 10 1/8" and his spurrs are 1 1/8."

After you called last night I wanted to get online and check out the bird but I get up at 4:30 so it had to wait 'til this morning! Nice! Looks like the new job, new lease benefit will be working out well! I hope the rest of your new job is working out as well! I told you I may go back up to LBJ this weekend didn't I? Well I may not after all. The NASCAR race is this weekend and traffic in that part of the world sucks anywhere close to the track. I'll have to think about that one.
Congrats on a nice bird! See ya, Greg
