Use a blind (either homemade or purchased), or use a tree, or draw your bow when the Tom is strutting away from you. Their good eyesight can make it hard to draw your bow.

Practice Practice Practice....their vitals are small.

Turn your draw weight down...you don't necessarly want a pass-through.

Try to use a broadhead that will stick in the bird. (either duller broadheads, grasshoppers, etc)

Set your decoys closer than you normally would with a shotgun.

And scout scout scout

One thing I would always recomend for archery hunting turkeys is an ARRESTOR of some kind for your arrow. These will stop the arrow inside the bird and not allow a pass through. There are many different kinds, right from home brew (rubber bands, washerrs, O-rings, t) up to store bought units. I use the Zwickey Scropio's as I have found them to be the best and have the least effect on your arrow. They slide on the arrow shaft (must get corret size for your arrow shaft) to stop the arrow from passing through. The head will pass completely but not the fletching making it difficult for the bird to run or fly if you do not make the bst of hits as said above, the vitals are small.

Good luck.

I highly recommend the blind. I have to drop my draw wieght down as low as it will go along with a arresstor. And still will have blow thru on a bird. But with broadhesd and arresstor there is enough damage to bird it will only travel less then 15 yds.

What about the newer expandables with no rubber bands? Like the Rage or Grim Reaper. Do they work?

I've been using NAP Gobbler Getters (which don't have a rubber band) and have had very good luck with them. Accuracy is very good and they fly like field points. The NAP Spitfires are also good, but I like the dulled point of the Gobbler Getter. I'd also try to get a companion do the calling for you because trying to call and draw a bow can be tricky when the birds get close. Good luck.
