Default Which hunting schedule for best chance at bird

Ok here's the deal. Turkey hunting in PA is only to noon. The way my hours work, I could get the option to have saturdays and one other full morning(to noon)a week to hunt. OR I could have saturdays and the 1st 1 1/2 hrs each morning to hunt. Hunting each morning, I am limited to a little lesser quality spots, than if I had a whole morning to go to better spots.

Which would you pick? 1st thing off the bat each morning @ lesser spots? or a full mornings hunt @ a good spot 1/week?

I'd take the 1 or 2 full mornings at your good spot. Sometimes the best hunting can come the last few hours of the morning and if you don't get one off the roost, you might have a chance to get one then.

Quit work and hunt all the time!!!

It may work out that they come right in, but that is usually not the case. If you get one started and have to leave to go to work you may bust him out of the area.

I would opt for the 2 days of full hunting. Whatever you decide good luck.

i agree...id take the 2 full days to hunt.

i did the hour or 2 of hunting EVERY morning...one season i hunted dang near EVERY day...but the kicker was i went to highschool from 750-1120am...work job 1 12-5 and then work job 2 mostly every night from 530-11 or so. then i would get up and hunt from day break till about 730. school...work hunt school work....

let me tell you...i got about 3hrs of sleep the whole season. i wa a zombie. it was rediculous...i got SO obsessed with 1 really large boss tom it wasnt funny. at the time i would have done ANYTHING to kill him just so i could sleep. i learned 2 things....dont let yourself get hung up killing 1 bird...i never killed him...and..if you only got an hour or 2 to hunt your gunna hate to leave...right around 730-830 is when i seem to fire them up hard...its SUPER hard to leave when birds are gobblin...i never left when i had birds talkin to me....i made sure not to put myself in that position...but 7 or so i quit talkin and just waited to see what would work its way in looking for me...there were days i skipped school because i was workin birds...something you may not wanna do with work...and if you kill 1 your going to end up needing to call off or go in late...not to mention you wont get much sleep the whole season if you go that route

good luck....

Years past, I did the before work thing, but I had a much "softer" start time and boat loads of vacation. If I was working a bird I could just stay without anyone questioning me. This year is a new job, I've only been there 2 months so far. Plus my drive in has bad traffic later in the mornings.

I know how hunting every morning wears on you. One year I killed a bird the next to last day of the season, while hunting every morning except 1 that whole time.I slept in the next morning...and oh was it nice.
