Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default What do you think? Turkey Evaluation.

Ok... so I went and scouted some land today for turkey season coming up in the beginning of May. I would like to know what you guys think as far as the following:

And another....

These two pics are of where I am thinking of doing a majority of my hunting during my weekend turkey hunting trip. The background field in the first pic was corn last season, and the field directly behind where I was standing was beans. The second pic islooking slightly right compared to the first pic. You can see one of many deer trails as well as a decent sized creek in towards the back. The trees are decent sized and it is a pretty good size tract of timber, compared to the surrounding areas. What do you think I should do? I don't have enough time to scout any more days really until the season starts. It's a 3 hour drive to this location from my home. Does this look like it could hold some birds, or do you think I should find someplace else? Any advice and or opinions are appreciated.

The first question is have you seen birds there? For me if Ive saw birds there then the cornfield set up is the best. The second pic is good but it depends where the turkeys roost and where they fly down at. What travel routes do they use. There are a lot of questions you could ask yourself. I can say in the second pic, the big ravine or waterway there would stop a turkey from crossing. You need to really put forth a good effort in trying to find turkey sign. Thats a big thing. Are there any dusting areas, droppings or scratchings. Check out all aspects of the land and turkey sign...

Sure looks nice but its hard to say anything about just two pictures. Biggest thing is if there you or someone is seeing birds around that area. When you scouted did you see any sign? Tracks, droppings, feathers?

The first thing you'd want to find is sign. An area can look good to me, but not the birds! If they are in the area in May, wouldn't they be there now? Break out a call or two and see what you get.
