Folks round here don't talk much about hevi shot. I don't use it either. You may have to go elsewhere to find your answer but maybe somebody will have some advice.

Check out the Shotgunning Forum here. http://www.nwtf.org/ These guys live and breathe Hevi-shot ad nausium.
They have a lot of posts on different chokes and the patterns they produce with Hevi-shot.

I have a Jelly-Head for my 390. Shoots everything great. Lead, hevi, high density, extended range....it all works great. Can't go wrong with it.

I have a Jelly head in my Rem 870 SPS-T and the patterning of Hevi-shot was horrible. I was shooting 3.5" Hevi 13s, #5 shot and I was only getting a decent amount of pellets in the brain / vertebrea from 30 yards max. I switched to Federal flight control 3.5" #5 shot and I am good out to 50 yards with the same choke. The federals only cost $10 a box, too. I didn't, however, try a whole lot of hevishot brands...just the Hevi 13s (that may have been my problem). For this season I a just sticking with the Federals and I will play more with different shots sizes / chokes during the summer time. I plan on trying the undertaker choke with the Hevishot, as I hear good things about that combo as well. Just my two cents...

Is there something wrong with Hevi-shot why its not popular?

For one thing, it's expensive. It also generally requires a different choke tube for optimum results. Most turkey hunters are already set up for lead. And, as long as you keep your shots to 40 yd. or less, there's really no advantage. Winchester's X-tended Range is an exception. It gives hevi-shot performance, but it's softer so you can use a regular, lead-only tube. It, however, is still very expensive.

I use the Primos choke that is less expensive than the jellyhead, I forget what its called - theres only two I think. It shoots very well on my Nova.
I put the Jellyhead in my barrell and shot a few times with my friends, and it didnt waok as well - but hat was in my gun.
Good Luck

I shoot the HS Strutt Undertaker for hevi shot... I think it is a .670 or .675 constriction... Shoots the Win Ext Range #5's great...

Have you tryed Win HV loads threw the Rem super full turkey choke yet... If not I would recomend trying that first... chances are it will pattern pretty good for ya out to 40 yards
