Am not a turkey hunter, most of the turkeys I have harvested have been by chance, from a stand or blind while hunting either deer or hogs.
I have never hunted specifically for spring turkeys, so my question is , can turkeys be called in during the spring season ?
I have heard people say Osceola turkeys do not call on spring in Fla or South Georgia ?

Yes ... most birds will responed to calling in the early part of the season. Start off with a couple of soft tree yelps and then a fly down cackle at first light , once you hear them gobble back keep calling with some yelp and clucks. If you see the tom , stop calling and let him come in the rest of way but if he just hangs around then start purring a little , it would help alot if you have some decoys out in front of youfor him to see.

I've read so many posts you've made, and you really are like a hunting book, that can talk! or should I say type!?

Just to add a little something to what RD has already said;
After throwing out that fly down cackle, rake the leaves a bit with your free hand to imitate a turkey landing and scratching through the ground cover.
You can also use your hat to imitated a turkey flying down from the roost. Just shake the hat out like you would if it had dust all over it. After doing that you can do the scaping the ground cover trick.
Subtle though the sounds may be, they add a bit more realism to the calling sequences in my eyes.

Last spring I got just downhill from a tom with hensit was to light to get above him as I was at 20 yards.I did a soft yelp then later a fly downcackle while usinga wing to simulate a hen flying down from the roost then a few min. later soft yelping. I only called 3 times the tom was going back and forth out of eyesight above me gobblinga Jake tagging along. I could hear several hens with him.He left his hens and came down hill, I shot em gobbling.I know the wing convinced that tom he was coming into a hen, Dont leave home without it!
